Joyce A. Thomas, age 67, of Belen, born in Indiana, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on June 21, 2023.

She grew up alongside one older sister, Diane Wiler, and one younger brother, Gary Baughn. She is survived by her husband, John Thomas; four children and five grandchildren.

Although she grew up in a suburb, she always loved animals and preferred the country life. Her family moved to Albuquerque in 1970 and, soon after, she was breaking horses at The Corral. Later, she worked as a zookeeper at the Albuquerque Zoo. She found a long career as an office manager working at Wells Fargo Bank and multiple dairies. Joyce was known for her huge smile, determination and positivity. She put her heart and soul into everything and everyone around her.

Despite her long battle with cancer, she was her family’s real-life superhero. She will be remembered, loved and cherished as a mother, grandmother, friend and wife.

Services for Joyce will take place at Noblin Funeral Service Belen Chapel on Saturday, July 1, beginning with a visitation at 10 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 10:30 a.m.
