Marty D. Sanchez

1953-2023 

Marty D. Sanchez, age 70, a resident of Tomé, passed away peacefully at his home on Dec. 4, 2023.  

Services took place on Thursday, Dec. 14, 2023, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Interment followed at the Tomé Catholic Cemetery.  

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Mary Bernice Sanchez; daughter, Melissa Lucero (Daniel); son, Martin Sanchez Jr. (Christian); grandkids, Keshia (Ricky), Dakotah (McKayla), Josiah, Martin III (Alex), Isaiah (Brianna), Laricsa, Jaden and Janeice; great-grandkids, Aiden, Martin IV, Korbin, Jeremiah, Aria and Isaiah Jr; mother-in-law, Nancy Garcia; and many relatives and numerous friends.  

Marty is preceded in death by his mother, Anita Sanchez; grandmother, Manuelita Sanchez; aunt, Flora Sanchez; daughter, Amber Bunny; and great-grandson, Zackariah; and numerous relatives.  

He enjoyed attending all sporting events the kids and grandkids played. He loved family gatherings, watching the Dallas Cowboys, the UNM Lobos, his favorite game shows and soap operas.  

Marty loved his sweets and talking about sports with kids and grandkids. He enjoyed listening to music and singing along. He just loved people he could make friends anywhere.  

Marty worked at the Valencia County Road Department, Bates Lumber Co., and at the Los Lunas Schools.  

Special thank you to his caretakers, Juanita Rascon and Pauline Perez, and Marty’s therapists, Angela, Christina, nurse Zelda, Dr. Phillips and everyone at Presbyterian from the doctors, nurses and care management.  

Pallbearers were Martin Sanchez Jr., Roger Garcia, Dakotah Lucero, Josiah Sanchez, Martin SanchezIII and Isaiah Sanchez. Honorary pallbearers were Melissa, Jaden and Jeremiah.
