Mary H. Sanchez, of Valencia, peacefully passed into the loving arms of our Lord on April 21, 2022.

Mary was born in Mills, N.M., but lived most of her life in Valencia, where she shared her love with her family and many friends.

Mary loved cooking and was famous for her homemade tortillas, tamales and biscochitos. She enjoyed fishing, going to the casino and enjoyed a few (as she called it) gurgle, gurgles now and then. She enjoyed interior decorating and had a home-based business as a Home Interiors consultant for more than 30 years.

She was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church.

Her loved ones who passed before her were her husband, Herman Sr.; brothers, Bern and Rudy Arellano; sister, Carrie Martinez; several brothers- and sisters-in-law; and her parents, Pete and Rose Arellano.

She will be missed by her surviving children, son, Leonard Sanchez and wife, Gloria; daughter, Pat Baca and husband, James, daughter, Barbara Garcia and husband, Gene, son, Herman Jr., and daughter, Michelle Sanchez; grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Her grandsons given the honor to carry her casket are Leonard Sanchez Jr., Paul Sanchez, Jimmy Baca Jr., Alfredo Garcia, Christopher Garcia, Jerry Lee Sanchez, Jose Sanchez and Gregorio Smith. Honorary pallbearers are Patrick Little, Andrew Ortega, Mike Martinez, Patrick Arellano, Josh Case, John Case and Gilbert Sanchez Jr.

Memorial services will be held Thursday, April 28, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in Peralta. A viewing starts at 10:30 a.m., Rosary at 11:30 a.m. and Funeral Mass at 12 p.m. Burial to follow at Our Lady of Guadalupe Cemetery, 118A La Ladera Road, Los Lunas.

Services for Mary are being handled by Romero Funeral Home in Belen.
