Community Job Fair at Tierra del Sol Golf Club

The Infinity High School Community Job Fair will be held from 8-10 a.m., Friday, June 11, at Tierra del Sol Golf Club in Rio Communities. Bring your resumes, smiles and job-seeking skills. There will be opportunities to be hired by local and Albuquerque businesses. Many are seeking to hire summer or permanent employees. Flag retirement ceremonies

Daniel D. Fernandez, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 9676 will perform its annual Flag Day Retirement Ceremony at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 12, at the post home, 1201 N.M. 314 in Los Lunas. The Post war veterans will be assisted by Boy Scout from Troop 360. If you have any worn U.S., New Mexico, POW or other organization flags that you would like to have properly retired, please contact Post Quartermaster Jack Lovato at 550-4076 or Post Commander Chet Pino at 414-0288 to set up an appointment for the Post to receive your worn flag/flags. This year, due to the lessening of COVID-19 meeting-size and mask-wearing restrictions, the general public is invited to attend this solemn but celebratory ceremony.

The Chavez-Curan VFW Post 2387 in Belen will hold a Flag Day Ceremony at 10 a.m., Monday, June 14, at the Post, 122 S. Fifth St. Members will be retiring old and damaged U.S. flags.

 

Rummage Sale

St. Philip’s Episcopal Church, 113 La Luna Place, Rio Communities, will hold a rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, June 12. Items for sale include clothes, small kitchen appliances, new door truck mirrors, upholstery tools, computer desks and more. For information, call 864-7954.

 

Open Trail and Health Day

The Meadow Lake Parks Area Association will hold an Open Trail and Health Day from 8 a.m. to noon, Saturday, June 19, at the MLPAA property at the end of Meadow Lake Road. The park will be open to the general public. Ride your horse, walk your dog, bring your bicycle. They also have two park benches that need painting. Rainbow Art Walk event

The Rainbow Art Walk will be held from noon to 6 p.m., Saturday, June 26, in the Belen Arts District, located on Becker Avenue between First and Sixth streets. This event is an open house of art studios in the district, including Gaze Gallery Pop-Up, Wolf Martinez Gallery Pop-Up, Through the Flower, The GRID Gallery, Belen Art League Gallery and Gifts, Solis Custom Design and Studio 508.

 

Recycling at AC Disposal

AC Disposal Recycling Drop-Off Center, 501 Bernard Ave., Belen, is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, and from 8-11:30 a.m. on Saturdays, for Belen residents only. Must show proof of residency, i.e., driver’s license, water bill, etc. For information, call 866-1010.

 

Belen Public Library open

The Belen Public Library is open by appointment only; appointments are 50 minutes long, and masks are required. Call 966-2600 to schedule an appointment.

 

2021 Valencia County Fair

The 88th annual Valencia County Fair will be held Aug. 1-Aug. 8 at the fairgrounds in Belen. The fair board is looking for anyone interested in being a food or commercial-type vendor. If interested, contact them at valenciafair.com or call 610-7585.

The Valencia Fair Management Company, Inc., is also looking for anyone interested in doing a janitorial contract and/or providing security at this year’s fair.
