Patricio Filemon Baca

Patricio Filemon Baca, age 92, a resident of Pueblitos, passed away on Feb. 14, 2019.

He was an Army veteran, and a mechanic for 64 years. Patricio loved reading his Bible and would talk about Jesus with anyone who would listen. He enjoyed playing his accordion, harmonica, working with his hands and loved spending time with his cat, Christian.

Patricio loved his children, grandchild and great-grandchildren, and never missed an opportunity to spend time with them.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Casimiro and Maria (Montoya) Baca; his wife, Beatrice Salas Baca; daughter, Olympia Torres; son, Raymond Baca; his siblings, Julio Baca, Nestor Baca, Domie Lovato, Christina Gomez, Alice Castillo, Esteban Baca, Mella Rodriguez, Rosalina Vallejos, Albert Baca, Daniel Baca, Rudy Baca and Jose Baca; and dear friend, Molly Cordova.

Patricio is survived by his sons, Patrick (Angie) Baca, Michael (Bernadette) Baca and Joseph Baca; son-in-law, Nolbert Torres; his siblings, Christela Salas, George Baca, Carmen Cordova, Virginia Jaramillo, Rosela Serafin and Lorraine Weaver. He is also survived by his 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, many loving nieces and nephews; and Diane Sedillo, who helped care for him and who he loved dearly.

Services took place on Wednesday, Feb. 20, at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. Interment followed at Bosque Catholic Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Leon Baca, Nolbert Torres, Keith Baca, Daniel Baca, Chris Pino and Nick Gutierrez. Honorary pallbearers were Michele Denton, Rachel Maestas, Erin Fuller, Ana Baca, Valerie Gutierrez, Victoria Baca, Elizabeth Baca and Lori Ann Washburn.

Donald Lee Pobanz

1928-2019

Donald Lee Pobanz, 70, of Los Lunas, passed away Sunday, Feb. 10, 2019.

Friends and family are invited to a visitation from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 21, at FRENCH – University.

A graveside service will follow at 9 a.m., Friday, Feb. 22, at Santa Fe National Cemetery.

Dennis L. Romero

1961-2019

Dennis L. Romero

Dennis L. Romero, age 57, a life-long resident of Tomé, passed away at his residence on Jan. 12, 2019.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Leova Z. Romero, of Tomé.

Dennis is survived by his two daughters, Leova D. and Stephanie Romero, both of Belen; his father, Ladis Romero; one brother, Patrick Romero (Cynthia), both of Tomé; two sisters, Evelyn (Vance) Braman, of Columbus, Ga.; Sherry Medina, of Las Cruces; one niece, Nicole Odom; nephews, Andrew Braman and Taylor Braman, of Columbus, Ga., Patrick Daniel Romero, Christopher Romero and Gabriel Romero, of Tomé, Justin Medina, Kenny (Donna) Medina and Joseph Medina, of Las Cruces.

He was a licensed plumber for more than 25 years and was employed by Miller Bonded Inc. Dennis was a member of the Plumbers Union. He enjoyed the great outdoors; hunting, fishing, camping, grilling and gardening — especially his chile competitions with local gardeners within his neighborhood.

Dennis had a strong work ethic and did his work with much care, while mentoring others on the job, as he was dedicated and excelled at his work. He loved all his family and friends and was often very comical with his great sense of humor. He had a big heart and was always concerned about everyone except himself.

Dennis was a loving son, father, brother, uncle, great uncle, nephew, cousin, friend and neighbor. His warm, welcoming hospitality along with his infectious big smile will be greatly missed. Thank you, Dennis, for being you. May you rest in peace.

Services were held Feb. 18-19, with a Rosary at Romero Funeral Home Chapel, and a Funeral Mass at San Clemente Catholic Church in Los Lunas. Interment took place at Tomé Cemetery.

Lawrence H. Smith

Lawrence H. Smith, age 61, a resident of Los Chavez, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2019.

He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Elizabeth Smith; sister, Beatrice Bishop; and brothers, Stuart, Eric, Keith and Graham Smith.

Lawrence is survived by his children, Nicole (John) Carrillo and Stuart (Courtney) Smith; brothers, Paul (Carol) Smith and Neil (Linda) Smith; grandchildren, Benson and Chloe Smith, Juan and Aislinn Carrillo; great-grandson, Juan Carrillo Jr.; and very special friends, Jim, Susie and Rachel Hicks and Terri Brown. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and family friends.

A celebration of life will be held at Belen Eagle Park Community Center from 1-3 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 23, 2019.
