LLHS girls basketball coach Manny Vigil oversees the action during the Tiger Youth Basketball Camp

Los Lunas

More than 40 participants turned out for the Tiger Youth Basketball Camp at Los Lunas High School, the first LLHS camp under direction of new Tigers’ girls coach Manny Vigil.

“It’s been great,” said Vigil, who previously coached at Valencia and Alamogordo and, most recently, was a science teacher in Las Cruces. “I’ve been pleasantly surprised with the kids. They are actually pretty skilled — I see a lot of good things.”

Vigil said LLHS administration and staff have been supportive and he anticipates the team doing well in his debut season.

“They’re just really good kids. There are no attitude issues. It’s been a positive experience,” adding, “We’re a little undersized but they’re already starting to figure out how to rebound better from the beginning of the summer. There’s been a lot of growth.”
