The host Belen Eagles (3-5) finished in sixth place last week in boys basketball at the Hub City Tournament with a 1-2 record.

BHS lost to ATC Santa Fe, 49-43, in the opener, with the Eagles’ Jordi Rojo scoring 17 points. In the consolation bracket, Belen edged Bloomfield, 54-52, with Jasode Harris totaling 17 points, while Rojo added 15.

Manzano handled BHS in the consolation championship, 61-38. West Mesa (5-2) defeated ATC in the title game.

Belen takes a holiday break until Dec. 27 when the Eagles host St. Michael’s.

In other boys’ action last week, Valencia (4-3) lost road games to Robertson, 62-53, and Artesia, 54-50. Los Lunas boys (4-2) play at Sandia Thursday.

Belen girls started the week with a 4-2 record and were scheduled to play Tuesday at Bernalillo. LLHS girls were 2-3 after a 56-31 victory over Atrisco Academy. Tessa Jaramillo scored 23 points for the Tigers.

After defeating Deming on Saturday, VHS girls (5-3) took a three-game winning streak into Tuesday’s game against Española Valley.
