Truman Russell

1932-2023

Truman Russell

Truman “The Tractor Man” Russell, age 91, a resident of Belen, passed away on Oct. 21, 2023, surround by his family.

He is survived by his five children, Gerald Russell (Tolene), Terri Belt, Allen Russell (Sally), Kelly Russell (Catie) and Randy Russell; 14 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Billie Russell; and parents, John Oliver Russell and Truman Mary Russell.

Truman was born in 1932 in Marlow, Okla. He lived most of his life as an entrepreneur and was often referred to as a “genius” mechanic. He had a passion for taking things apart and fixing/rebuilding them. In 1951, Truman married his wife, Billie, in Portales, N.M., and later moved to Los Lunas and eventually Belen.

Truman was a strong-willed man and never hesitated to speak his mind — two of his best qualities. He was clever and full to the brim with knowledge he gained through all his life experiences as a mechanic and business owner. He enjoyed sharing this knowledge with his children and many of his grandchildren over the years.

When his time came, he carried himself with dignity, strength and grace. His family hopes he is dancing to country-western music with his wife, Billie, and whipping up a batch of his famous margaritas and mulberry pies.

Even though we are sad that our beloved father and grandfather is gone, we are happy  he is home and no longer in pain.

Services for Truman will take place on Friday, Nov. 10, at Noblin Funeral Service Belen Chapel.

Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and prayers for Truman and the Family.
