The fickle weather conditions that are typical of March welcomed the ladies of the Women’s Golf Association as they began their 2023 golf season.

The Women’s Golf Association 2023 season is underway.

Although there was limited play, many of the ladies braved the cold, windy conditions to complete several rounds of the Wednesday and Saturday play days.

The meeting day scramble was played on Wednesday, March 1, at Tierra del Sol Golf Club in Rio Communities. First-place winners were Anna Martinez, Marilyn Winters and Kathy Burrow.  Second place went to Edie Redfearn-Moore, Joanne Romero and Josanne Cossio.

Throughout the other regular play days, First Gross Winners in the Lady 18 group were Kathryn Bayless, Redfearn-Moore, Winters and Tammie Fuller, and two-time winner, Marilyn Jaramillo. Winning First Net Honors for the Lady 18 Group was Robin Boyd with two and one each for Burrow, Winters, Fuller and Jaramillo.

In the Lady 9 Division, First Gross winners were Marla Wersonick and Fran Griffeth with two. Lady 9 First Net honors went to Dorothy Lindberg with two and Fran Griffeth with one.

There were two birdies made by Regina Trujillo to go with one chip-in for the month. Tammie Fuller had a birdie, and Marla Wersonick scored a chip-in.

In April, the Partner’s Best Ball Tournament will be played on April 12, with a special Pro Am Tournament scheduled for April 26. The first Ace Day competition will be played on April 19.
