Moriah Elyse Kerns

1996-2024

Moriah Elyse Kerns

Moriah Elyse Kerns, age 27, a resident of Los Lunas, passed away on April 20, 2024, as a result of renal cell carcinoma.

Moriah was pursuing a business degree in hopes of opening a tea shop. She and her friends enjoyed going to tea shops and bookstores to buy additional books and listen to authors book readings.

She loved many shenanigans with her friends. She was accomplished at crocheting blankets and was an avid reader, reading Shakespeare, Charles Dickens, the classics in the seventh grade. She would read more than 100 books a year.

After high school, Moriah lived in Tulsa, Okla., and Branson, Mo., before returning to Los Lunas in June of 2020. Moriah completed the Coffee Academy and was a black apron coffee master. She also worked as a medical intake coordinator at a cardiology office in Branson, as well as customer service at one of Branson’s theaters.

Upon returning to New Mexico, she did customer service for a moving company and then was an intake coordinator for a counseling service. Moriah was the audio-visual support for Bible Study Fellowship Los Lunas.

She had a quick wit and great sense of humor, combined with her sarcasm leaving the room erupting with laughter. She enjoyed quiet alone time but, when called upon, “Customer Service” Moriah was amazing. She was a great help to her family as a chauffeur with doctor appointments, care after surgery or whatever was needed.

She is survived by her parents, Steve and Dana Kerns; sisters, Angel Adams and Mirisa Kerns; brother, Gabriel Armstrong; her grandy, Grace Allen; grandmother, Lillian Kerns; aunt, Danette Ott; uncle, Mark Kerns; and uncle, Dick Allen; as well as many other uncles and cousins.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 27, at Christian Fellowship Church, 628 Los Lentes Road NE, Los Lunas.

In lieu of cut flowers, the family requests that perennials be sent, allowing her memory to be enjoyed for years to come.
