Celina G. Archuleta 

1920-2023 

Celina G. Archuleta passed away on Tuesday, Dec 19, 2023, at the age of 103, in Durango, Colo., with her three children at her side.  

Celina was born on Sept. 13, 1920, in Belen to parents Avelino A. Gutierrez and Eloisa Gutierrez.  She graduated from Los Lunas High School, from New Mexico State University with a bachelor’s degree and the University of New Mexico with a master’s degree. 

Celina married Telesfor T. Archuleta, and had three children, son, Alfred, in 1947, daughter, Rebecca, in 1951 and daughter, Marie in 1958. 

Throughout her life, Celina focused on her family, her faith and the role of educator to others, teaching children of all ages at the Los Lunas school system and later, as curriculum coordinator for Los Lunas area schools. Celina also enjoyed traveling, whether to exotic international locales or on memorable domestic travels with her husband, children and other family members. 

Celina was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Teles Archuleta; brother, Avelino Gutierrez (Lorraine); brother, Leo Gutierrez (Fela); brother, Gilbert Gutierrez (Maggie); sister, Linda Davila (Frank); sister, Lucy Cullen (Charles) and brother, Fred Gutierrez.  

She is survived by son, Alfred Archuleta and wife, Carol Archuleta; daughter, Rebecca Archuleta and husband, Jerry Bemis; daughter, Marie Archuleta and husband, Hal Lott; grandson, Jesse Archuleta; grandson, Paul Lovato and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. 

A funeral Mass is to be celebrated at 10 a.m., Friday, Dec. 29, 2023, at San Clemente Catholic Church, 244 Luna Avenue SE, Los Lunas.  Following the funeral Mass, there will be a private interment at Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe.
