Deacon Michael Alexander Montoya

Deacon Michael Alexander Montoya, age 56, a resident of Belen, passed away on July 11, 2023.

Services were held on Wednesday, July 19, at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. Interment followed at Our Lady of Belen Memorial Gardens.

He is survived by his daughter, Abigail Montoya; father, Percy Montoya; sister, Michelle (Steve) Aragon; nephews, Korey Robles, Adrian Montoya and Anthony DeAnda; nieces, Theresa Robles and Loren DeAnda; great niece, Alyssa Montoya; sister-in-law, Josephine Gallegos; and several loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Deacon Michael is preceded in death by his loving wife of 15 years, Brenda Montoya; mother, Barbara Santillanez-Montoya; brother, Mathew Montoya; and in-laws, Lorenzo and Gertrude Gallegos.

Deacon Michael grew up in Albuquerque and was raised by his parents. He was a deacon at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church and served his community faithfully for 12 years.

Deacon Michael was also employed at New Mexico Orthopedics.

Pallbearers were Franco Padilla, Rex Sanchez, Robert Kaneshiro, Anthony Sanchez, Wayne Gallegos, Mario Baldonado, Frank Ortega, Fernando Sisneros, Phillip Sisneros and Florian Sanchez.
