Eric Chavez

Eric Chavez, a resident of Pueblitos, passed away peacefully on Monday, Oct. 2, 2023.  

He was born on Feb. 29, 1964 (Leap Day) a birthdate he shared with his father. Eric was an avid outdoorsman, hunter and fisherman.  

Eric was a former taxidermist. He loved being in the mountains or near any body of water fishing, as he could catch fish out of a puddle. Eric was a very gifted bow hunter as most of his kills were harvest with a bow. Eric was a very gifted carpenter and a man of many talents.  

Eric was very charismatic and had a contagious sense of humor. Eric was also an amazing cook, anything he cooked was a true delicacy. Eric’s grandchildren brought him so much joy.  

On Oct. 2, 2023, Eric took so much knowledge and talents with him but left a lasting legacy. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Love you dad … until then.  

Eric is survived by his two children, Erica McCartney (Brian) and Dominic Chavez (Janelle); six grandchildren, Jaiden, Uryah, Kaleb, Aria, David and Gabriel; his mother, Florie Chavez; and four siblings, Carl Chavez, Chris Chavez, Cathy Hisam and LoriAnn Garcia.  

Eric is preceded in death by his father, David Chavez; and his aunt, Luz Chavez.  

Pallbearers were Dominic and Gabriel Chavez. Honorary pallbearers were Erica McCartney, Jaiden McCartney, Uryah McCartney, Kaleb McCartney, Aria McCartney, David Arriaga, Chris Chavez and Carl Chavez.  

Services took place at Romero Funeral Home on Oct. 12.
