Helen Montoya 

1931-2024 

Helen Montoya, age 92, a resident of Belen, passed away on April, 9, 2024.  

Services will take place at Romero Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, April 23, starting with a visitation at 9 a.m., a celebration of life to be celebrated at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Belen Memorial Gardens.  

She is survived by sons, Anthony Montoya (Elaine) and Danny Montoya (Brenda); daughter, Rose Ann Moya; eight grandchildren, Kevin, Kimberly, Karen, Mikey, Stephanie, Jennifer, James and Frankie; 13 great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and family members.  

Helen is preceded in death by parents, Francisco and Josefita Chavez Torres; son, Alex Montoya; brother, Joaquin Torres; and sisters, Carmelita Torres, Teodorita (Tita) Zemke, Frances Pinkston and Dolores Torres.  

Helen was born in Santa Rosa, N.M. She retired from the state of New Mexico, where she worked for 25 years. 

Thanks to the nurses and caregivers, Adam and Tina; Road Runner Hospice nurse, DeRay and Amy, and all the staff that helped in the care of our mother, Helen. A special thanks to Dicky Romero and the staff at Romero Funeral Home.
