Nestor Peralta

Nestor Peralta, 90, a resident of Casa Colorada for the past 46 years, passed away at his home on April 12, 2024. 

He is preceded in death by his son, Gilbert Peralta; daughter, Kathy; grandson, Christopher Gutierrez; parents, Teofila and Casimiro Peralta; and siblings, Rume Silva, Andrea Reyes, Priscilla Pena, Hermenes Peralta, Abel Peralta and Demie Triana. 

Nestor is survived by his wife of 68 years, Timmie; sons, Nestor, Leroy and Henry (Pat) Peralta; and sister, Carol Valdez. Also surviving him are grandchildren, Christina, Nestor, Casey, John Henry, Elliott, Monique and Ariel and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. 

He proudly served his country by enlisting in the National Guard Reserves, and soon after he was drafted into the U.S. Army, where he served in the Korean War, 25th Infantry Division (Tropic Lightning) in Seoul, South Korea. 

He and his wife enjoyed going out to eat and on weekends dancing at the Post 13 in Albuquerque, where they spent many fun times with friends. They took pride in coordinating their attire for attending weekly mass and for nights out. 

Nestor retired as supervisor of the iron shop from Albuquerque Public Schools after 33 years of service.  

Special thank you to son, Henry, for the love and care he provided as well as Desiree, Kim, Kristen and Anna of Hospice De La Luz for their compassion and care. 

Services for Nestor will take place on Tuesday, April 30, at Calvary Chapel Rio Grande Valley in Belen. A visitation will take place at 9:30 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m. Nestor will then be laid to rest at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1 p.m.
