Jose “Joe” Ulibarri

Jose “Joe” Ulibarri, age 88, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away peacefully in his home on Aug. 12, 2023.  

Services will take place at the San Isidro Catholic Church in Las Nutrias on Saturday, Aug. 19, 2023, beginning with a visitation at 10 a.m., a Rosary at 11 a.m. and Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at the San Isidro Catholic Cemetery in Las Nutrias.  

He is survived by his son, Vincent Ulibarri; grandsons, Lawrence Sedillo and Robert Price (Jamie); granddaughters, Cassandra Gutierrez (Joaquin), April Sisneros (Juan Diego), Ashley Baca and Angelica Nieto; brother, David Ulibarri; sister, Vina Mendoza; and eight great-grandchildren.  

Joe is preceded in death by his loving wife, Brigida (Bridget) Flores Ulibarri; daughters, Annette and Yolanda Ulibarri; parents, Meliton and Magdalena Chavez Ulibarri; and his eight brothers and sisters.  

He was a well-known restaurateur in the Albuquerque area. Joe owned and operated Joe’s Coffee shop, which was located at the old City Hall and later moved to Carrie Tingly Hospital. He was known for serving one of his famous burgers to the president of the United States, the late President Ronald Reagan.
