The Los Lunas Tigerettes dance team is riding high heading into this coming weekend’s State Spirit Championships after winning several titles at the American Dance/Drill Team National and International Championships in Denton, Texas.

The Tigerettes, coached by Jonelle Thompson-Armijo, were champions in Prop and Hip Hop and runners-up in Pom, Academic and Extra Small Teams.

Individually, Brooke Dixon was fourth in Solos for small teams, while the team of Tilly Garcia and Madison Aragon were runner-up in Officer Jazz.

Friday at the Pit in Albuquerque, the Tigerettes will compete in two events, Pom and Hip Hop. On Saturday, the LLHS Cheer team will take part in 5A Coed Cheer with Music and Game Day.

The Belen Eagles will also take the Pit floor Saturday, entered in 4A Cheer with Music and Game Day. Valencia is not entered in the State Spirit Championships because their coach resigned.
