Philip Joseph Wood, age 69, passed away on Friday, June 30, 2023.

Graveside services were held Friday, July 7, at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis, N.M. Pastor Wayne Boydstun officiated.

Jim Hailey, Shane Clements, Gabe Yalch, Quarai Silva, G.T. Nunn and Pat McCluskey will serve as pallbearers.

Philip was born on June 19, 1954, to William and Carmen (Joerger) Wood, in Truth or Consequences, N.M. Phil started working for BNSF railroad in 1972. On Dec. 14, 1985, Phil married Alice Sais in Belen.

He and Alice moved to Carlsbad, N.M., in 1990 when he started his construction company, Tri-Wood Builders. The railroad took Phil and his family to Clovis in 1996, where they purchased the bowling alley and continued to work for BNSF until he retired in March 2016.

Philip enjoyed bowling, attending the horse races with his “Pard,” golf, fishing and going to the lake. He loved going on cruises and seeing the world with his wife.

Philip’s kids and grandkids were his world. He loved watching them play sports, rodeo and he would show interest in everything they did. He was always so proud of all of them.

Philip Wood leaves behind his wife, Alice Wood, of the family home; his children, Jennifer (Quarai) Silva, of Albuquerque, Kim (G.T.) Nunn, of Belen, Beverly (Patrick) McClusky, of Carlsbad, Laura (Shane) Clements, of Clovis, Gabe Yalch, of Belen; two stepchildren, Marty Yalch, of Albuquerque, and Johnny Yalch, of Belen; his sisters, Ann Smith, of Belen,  Barbara Morgan, of Albuquerque, and Beatrice (Robert) Morgan, of Belen; 15 grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He goes on to join both of his parents, William F. Wood, and Carmen Wood; both of his grandparents, and one brother, Patrick Wood.
