Ramon Chavez

Ramon Chavez, age 84, of Casa Colorada, passed away on March 10, 2024. He was born on May 13, 1939, in Adelino, to Ramon and Rebecca Chavez. 

Ramon was one of 13 siblings. He married his beloved wife, Victoria, in May of 1969, and moved to Casa Colorada. Ramon worked as a laborer in construction until a disability prevented him from continuing.  

He cherished spending time with family, enjoying Budweiser with friends, watching Western shows, and sharing laughter with those around him. 

Ramon is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Salome (Solie) Chavez; grandson, Matthew Ramon Edeal; son-in-law, David Sweeney; family members, Rosalie Barela, Bonifacio Aragon, Rose Gomez, Erlinda Zamora, Esquipula Chavez, Lita Ashbrook, Lorenzo Chavez, Antonio Chavez and Elias Chavez.  

He is survived by his wife, Victoria; daughters, Krystyne Sweeney (David), Mary Esther Chavez Lopez (Ismael), and Roseann Chavez; as well as his grandchildren, Alejandro, Isabella, Paola (Zadrian), Joshua, Elliannah (Kris) and Marina; also his great-grandchildren, Theodore and Mia.  

He is also survived by sisters, Josie C. Aragon (Joe), Lucy Reeves and Isabel Martin (Chuck); brother, Louis Chavez; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. 

Services for Ramon will take place Tuesday, March 19, at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. A visitation will be held at 9 a.m., followed by the Rosary at 9:30 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 am. Ramon will then be laid to rest at the Casa Colorada Cemetery immediately following the mass.
