Frances Garcia

1931-2023

Frances Garcia

Frances Garcia, 92, was welcomed into the arms of our Lord on Friday, Oct. 6, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, David; son, Thomas Lee; parents, Candelaria and Leandro Sanchez; sisters, Emma, Sophie and Gloria; and brother, Ruben.

Frances was a woman of steadfast faith in the Catholic Church and was a devout parishioner of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. She was devoted to her family and loved to cook for them. She was known for making delicious red chile; it was always hot, even when she claimed it wasn’t. She made wonderful homemade bread that was always highly anticipated at family holiday gatherings.

Frances was a very giving person who enjoyed creating things, especially if they were to be enjoyed by someone else. She loved to crochet and would make a blanket for each new grandchild until the time her hands were no longer able to keep up with her generous spirit. Her family often received gifts of crocheted dolls, beaded candle holders, and framed scratch art pictures.

Frances was a very caring woman who loved her family. She was the best mom and grandma and will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her six children, Yvonne Sanchez, Veronica (David) Arnoff, David Garcia, Andy (Robin) Garcia, Lorena (Rich) Rosley and Thomas (Yvette) Garcia; grandchildren, Erica (Will) Martinez, Carlos (Tanya) Sanchez, Tamara (Jeff) Ahearn, Brandon (Jacquelyn) Sanchez, Brian (Megan) Garcia, Davina (Dimitri) Sanchez, Cassi (Cameron) Rosley-Hinnen, Andrea (Pat) Garcia, Nicole Rosley, Austin(Deanna) Garcia, Ethan Garcia, Liam Garcia, Charlotte Garcia, and Michelle (J.R.) Tapia; 21 great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and godchildren whom she loved very much.

Services will take place at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church on Thursday, Oct. 19, beginning with a viewing at 6 p.m. and a Rosary at 7 p.m. A final visitation will be at 10 a.m., Friday, Oct. 20, followed by a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Santa Fe National Cemetery at a later date.

Serving the family as pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Carlos Sanchez, Brandon Sanchez, Brian Garcia, Austin Garcia, Ethan Garcia and Liam Garcia.
