Patsy is survived by her loving husband, Glen; her two daughters, Robin (Norman) Langeliers and Laura (Jack) Smulktis; and stepson, Chris (Paula) Sichler; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Patsy loved God, people and life. She was a golfer, cook, artist, musician and anything she decided to do she excelled at.

Patsy was born March 28, 1934, in Grants, to Joe Chavez and Mildred Stull Chavez. Her father, being a career military man, rose to the rank of colonel and led the family over most of Europe and the U.S.

Patsy attended Arizona State University in Phoenix, Ariz. Early in her career, Patsy managed the computer facilities for various department stores in the Los Angeles area. In the 1970s, Patsy joined World Vision, a Christian organization, where she successfully raised money for their out-reach. She rose to manager and eventually was promoted and transferred to Stockholm, Sweden, as the regional director of the Scandinavia countries. Upon returning to the U.S., Patsy continued to serve World Vision from New Mexico.

She married Ernie Sichler Jr., of Los Lunas, and was very happy until his death in 1997. Patsy met Glen Whiting on the golf course in 1998, they married and lived in Los Lunas, Tuscan, Ariz., and Bella Vista, Ark., playing golf, serving the Lord and enjoying life together.

Patsy and Glen would have been married for 25 years on Dec. 4. Patsy was full of life and light, and will be greatly missed.

A memorial service honoring Patsy’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 9, at 232 Main St., Los Lunas.
